About the Striper Mafia
The Striper Mafia is a group of striped bass anglers on Smith Mountain Lake dedicated to the on-going conservation of the striped bass fishery at Smith Mountain Lake, VA and elsewhere, while having fun and enjoying the wonderful resource which we are provided.
The Striper Mafia believes in responsible angling practices and protecting our big fish - religiously returning them to the waters so that others can have the joy of catching them in the future.

It is these core believes which led to the creation of the Striper Mafia Tournament Series - a Catch-Photo-Release model in which the fish are immediately returned to the waters from which they were caught as opposed to being killed for the purpose of winnings, or run around all day in a live-well of some form and attempted to be released later. Our belief is the quicker these fish are returned to their natural environment, the better for them and the future of the fishery overall.
We also believe in involving the whole family in these events - especially our young anglers. By holding a series-long ladies competition and a dedicated Youth competition we hope to make the series fun and inclusive for everyone.
